Al Green is a Democrat from Texas's 9th District, a civil rights advocate who made history as the first member of Congress to introduce articles of impeachment against Donald Trump.

Alexander N. Green is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 9th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2004 serving his eleventh term. Born in New Orleans and educated at Florida A&M University and Howard University, Green earned his law degree from Tuskegee University in 1973. He served as a justice of the peace in Harris County and practiced law for decades representing clients in civil rights matters. His district covers southwestern Houston and portions of Fort Bend County and is majority-minority. Green made national headlines in 2017 as the first member of Congress to introduce articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, citing constitutional and conduct concerns. He has filed additional impeachment articles in subsequent years. Green serves on the House Financial Services and Homeland Security committees, focusing on civil rights, fair housing, consumer protection, and voting rights issues.
