United States Senator from FL

Ashley Moody is Florida's junior Republican senator since January 2025, appointed by Governor DeSantis to fill Marco Rubio's seat after his confirmation as Secretary of State.
Ashley Brooke Moody, a Republican appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in January 2025 and sworn in January 21, was selected to fill the Senate seat vacated by Marco Rubio upon his confirmation as U.S. Secretary of State. A Plant City native and University of Florida and law school graduate, Moody served as a federal prosecutor focused on narcotics and fraud before becoming a Hillsborough County circuit judge. She was elected Florida Attorney General in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, where she focused on opioid litigation, human trafficking, and multi-state challenges to Biden-administration policies. In the Senate, she serves on Judiciary, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Joint Economic Committee, Aging, and HELP committees, aligning her committee work with her prosecutorial background and emphasis on border enforcement and drug interdiction. Facing a 2026 special election to complete Rubio's term, Moody represents the emerging generation of Florida Republican leadership positioned at the intersection of law enforcement and commerce policy.
