Austin Scott is a Georgia Republican and senior Armed Services member serving his eighth House term from south-central Georgia's farming region.
James Austin Scott represents Georgia's 8th Congressional District, serving since 2011 and holding his eighth term. A University of Georgia graduate, Scott worked in the insurance industry and served more than a decade in the Georgia House of Representatives before entering Congress. He is a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, serving as Vice Chairman of Agriculture and Chairman of the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit. He also serves on the House Rules Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Scott represents a south-central agricultural district including Warner Robins and Tifton, home to Robins Air Force Base. His legislative priorities center on Robins Air Force Base and national defense, peanut and cotton agriculture, and rural healthcare.
