Biography

Celeste Maloy is a Republican U.S. Representative from Utah's 2nd District and former chief legal counsel to Congressman Chris Stewart.

Celeste Maloy, born in Cedar City, Utah, earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Southern Utah University in 2003, working as a soil conservationist before pursuing law. She obtained her J.D. from Brigham Young University in 2015 and served as a deputy county attorney in Washington County specializing in public lands and water law. In 2019, she became chief legal counsel to U.S. Representative Chris Stewart, managing legal affairs for both his district and Washington offices. Following Stewart's resignation in 2023 to care for his wife's health, Maloy won the Republican nomination for the special election in June 2023 and the general election in November by a comfortable margin. Sworn in on November 28, 2023, she represents a district stretching from Salt Lake City's southwestern suburbs through southwestern Utah to St. George. She sits on the House Natural Resources, Judiciary, and Homeland Security committees, focusing on public lands, water management, and rural Utah concerns.
