United States Senator from WY

Cynthia Lummis is the junior U.S. Senator from Wyoming, the first woman elected to that office and a leading Senate voice on digital asset policy.
Cynthia Marie Lummis, Wyoming's junior senator since 2021, has pioneered conservative approaches to cryptocurrency and digital asset regulation while advocating for traditional resource development. A fifth-generation Wyomingite and rancher from the Cheyenne area, Lummis earned degrees in animal science and biology and a law degree from the University of Wyoming. She served in both houses of the Wyoming Legislature starting in her 20s, as Wyoming state treasurer, and as Wyoming's at-large U.S. Representative from 2009 to 2017, becoming the first woman ever elected to the Senate from Wyoming. Notably, Lummis was the first owner of Bitcoin elected to the U.S. Senate. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the Banking, Environment and Public Works, and Commerce committees. She has become the Senate's most prominent Republican voice on cryptocurrency and digital asset regulation, co-authoring bipartisan legislation with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and introducing the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Act proposing a government Bitcoin reserve. She announced in December 2025 that she would not seek re-election in 2026.
