Strong represents Alabama's 5th Congressional District, a Republican elected in 2022 who spent nearly three decades in Madison County local government, serving as a commissioner from his 20s and later as Madison County Commission chairman overseeing the fast-growing Huntsville region's economic development. He also directed county emergency management. In the 119th Congress, Strong serves on Armed Services, Science, Space and Technology, and Homeland Security committees, positioning him to advance north Alabama's aerospace and defense priorities. In 2025, he secured major funding wins, including over $4.2 billion for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center for the Space Launch System and Orion, and he championed the relocation of U.S. Space Command headquarters to Redstone Arsenal, a transformative decision for the region. Strong also led efforts to recommend Redstone Arsenal for the Army's Project Janus microreactor program and addressed critical infrastructure challenges at Redstone's gates to support expanding operations.
