Dan Newhouse is a Republican U.S. Representative from Washington's 4th District, a hop farmer and former state agriculture director who voted to impeach President Trump.
Daniel Milton Newhouse, born July 10, 1955, is the U.S. Representative for Washington's 4th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2014 and currently serving his sixth term representing central Washington including Yakima and the Tri-Cities. A graduate of Washington State University, Newhouse is a hop farmer who served in the Washington House of Representatives and as director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture under Governor Christine Gregoire from 2009 onward. He was one of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump in January 2021 following the Capitol riot, and remarkably remains one of only two such Republicans to win reelection afterward. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and focuses on agriculture, irrigation, and nuclear issues given the Hanford Site in his district. On December 17, 2025, Newhouse announced he would not seek reelection in 2026.
