Dan Sullivan is a Harvard and Georgetown-trained Republican senator from Alaska, a retired Marine Corps colonel serving his second term with focus on Arctic defense and energy development.
Daniel Scott Sullivan is Alaska's junior U.S. Senator and a Republican serving since 2015. Born in Ohio and educated at Harvard University and Georgetown University Law and Foreign Service schools, Sullivan moved to Alaska in the 1990s after military service. He served as an assistant secretary of state in the George W. Bush administration and later as Alaska's attorney general and natural resources commissioner, managing one of the nation's largest oil, gas, and mineral portfolios. A Marine Corps officer with active-duty service in 1993-1997, 2004-2006, and 2009-2013, Sullivan continues his military commitment while in the Senate. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the Commerce, Armed Services, Environment and Public Works, and Veterans' Affairs committees, emphasizing Arctic geopolitical strategy, shipbuilding, and responsible resource development in Alaska.
