Biography

Dave Min is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 47th District, a former law professor and state senator who succeeded Katie Porter.

Dave Min is the U.S. Representative for California's 47th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2024 and currently serving his first term. The son of Korean immigrants, Min earned degrees from Harvard and Harvard Law School and worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission and as a policy advisor for then-Senator Charles Schumer. He was a banking and consumer law professor at the University of California, Irvine before serving one term in the California State Senate. In succeeding Katie Porter in coastal Orange County, Min brings significant expertise in financial regulation and consumer protection. In the 119th Congress, he focuses on financial services regulation, coastal environmental protection, addressing the housing affordability crisis, and strengthening U.S.–Asia policy. His academic background in banking law and regulatory experience position him as an influential Democratic voice on consumer financial protection and financial system oversight. Min represents a new generation of Democratic leadership in Orange County with deep expertise in economic policy.
