Dave McCormick is Pennsylvania's junior Republican senator and former Treasury official and Bridgewater Associates CEO, elected in 2024 after a narrowly decided race.
David Harold McCormick is the junior U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, a Republican sworn in January 2025 after narrowly defeating Democratic incumbent Bob Casey Jr. in the 2024 general election. A West Point graduate who served as a U.S. Army officer during the Gulf War, McCormick earned a Ph.D. from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School and worked as a management consultant and as an executive at the software company FreeMarkets. He served in the George W. Bush administration as undersecretary of the Treasury for international affairs during the 2008 financial crisis and then became CEO of the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates. After losing the 2022 Republican Senate primary in Pennsylvania, he won the nomination and general election in 2024. In the 119th Congress, McCormick serves on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; Energy and Natural Resources; Foreign Relations; Aging; and the Joint Economic Committee, holding chair positions on the Energy and Digital Assets Subcommittees on Foreign Relations. He focuses on manufacturing competitiveness, energy independence, countering Chinese competition, and fiscal responsibility. He has introduced legislation advancing American industrial capacity and national security.
