Debbie Dingell is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Michigan's 6th District and auto industry advocate who succeeded her late husband John Dingell Jr., the longest-serving congressman.
Debbie Dingell is the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 6th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2014 to succeed her husband John Dingell Jr. and currently serving her sixth term. She represents a southeast Michigan district including Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and parts of Wayne and Washtenaw counties. A Georgetown University graduate, Dingell worked for three decades at General Motors, rising to president of the GM Foundation before pursuing political involvement. She served as a member of the Democratic National Committee and is active in women's causes and Arab American advocacy. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and House Natural Resources Committee, focusing on the automotive industry, electric vehicles, Great Lakes protection, Arab American communities, and healthcare including ALS research.
