Delia Catalina Ramirez is the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 3rd Congressional District since 2023, serving her second term. Daughter of Guatemalan immigrants, she was raised in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood and earned her degree from Northeastern Illinois University. Before Congress, Ramirez worked as a nonprofit leader addressing homelessness and affordable housing, and served in the Illinois House of Representatives. As the first Latina elected to Congress from the Midwest, she serves on the House Homeland Security and Veterans' Affairs committees. In the 119th Congress, she has sponsored legislation limiting use of force by immigration enforcement and addressing veterans' family leave benefits, focusing on immigration reform, affordable housing, and workers' rights.
