Diana DeGette is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Colorado's 1st District, dean of the Colorado delegation, and ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee.
Diana Louise DeGette is the U.S. Representative for Colorado's 1st Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 1996 and currently serving her fifteenth term. A graduate of Colorado College and New York University School of Law, DeGette worked as a civil rights attorney before serving in the Colorado House of Representatives. She is a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she serves as ranking member of the Health Subcommittee and has chaired the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. In the 119th Congress, she continues to drive major national reforms on healthcare access, prescription drug pricing, and protection of vital programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Affordable Care Act. She has served as chief deputy whip in House Democratic leadership. Her legislative priorities include reproductive rights, stem-cell research funding, public lands conservation, and consumer protection. DeGette is one of Congress's most influential voices on healthcare policy and consumer protection with deep seniority.
