Biography

Emilia Sykes is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Ohio's 13th District, former Ohio House minority leader from Akron.

Emilia Strong Sykes is the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 13th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2022 serving her second term representing Akron, Canton, and Summit and Stark counties. A Kent State University graduate with law and public health degrees from the University of Florida, Sykes served eight years in the Ohio House including as minority leader. Daughter of former state legislators Vernon and Barbara Sykes, she serves in the 119th Congress as Vice Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Ranking Member on the Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight.
