Gabe Amo is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Rhode Island's 1st District and the first person of color to represent the state in Congress.
Gabriel Amo represents Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District, a Democrat who won a November 2023 special election to succeed David Cicilline. The son of Ghanaian and Liberian immigrants, Amo made history as the first person of color elected to represent Rhode Island in Congress. Born December 11, 1987, he graduated from Wheaton College and was a Marshall Scholar at Oxford University before earning a degree from Brown University. He worked as an aide to Governor Gina Raimondo and served as a senior staffer in the Obama and Biden White Houses in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the Foreign Affairs and Science, Space, and Technology committees. He was reelected to the 119th Congress in November 2024.
