Grace Meng is the first Asian American to represent New York in Congress, serving as ranking member of the Appropriations Commerce-Justice-Science Subcommittee.
Grace Meng represents New York's 6th Congressional District covering central and northeast Queens including Flushing, Forest Hills, and Bayside, one of the nation's most Asian American communities. A University of Michigan and Cardozo Law School graduate, Meng served in the New York State Assembly before her 2012 election. She made history as the first Asian American to represent New York in Congress. In the 119th Congress, Meng serves on the House Appropriations Committee as ranking member of the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Subcommittee and sits on the National Security, Department of State subcommittee, making her a senior voice on budget priorities. She chairs the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus and co-chairs the House Bipartisan Taskforce for Combatting Antisemitism. Meng is a prominent advocate for Asian American civil rights, education funding, and combating hate crimes affecting her diverse district.
