Democratic U.S. Representative from Texas's 35th District since 2023; chair of Congressional Progressive Caucus and labor organizer.
Gregorio Eduardo Casar is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 35th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2022 and serving his second term. A son of Mexican immigrants and labor organizer, Casar is chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. A University of Virginia graduate, he worked as a labor organizer before his 2014 election to the Austin City Council at age 25. He served on the council for eight years, championing progressive policies including paid sick leave. Casar was elected Congressional Progressive Caucus chair for the 119th Congress and sits on the House Oversight and Agriculture committees. He focuses on labor, workers' rights, and progressive economic policy. He won reelection in 2024. In August 2025, he announced he would seek reelection in the newly-drawn 37th district following redistricting.
