Biography

Greg Stanton represents Arizona's 4th District, a Democrat and former Phoenix mayor on Transportation and Judiciary focusing on immigration and infrastructure.

Gregory John Stanton is the U.S. representative for Arizona's 4th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2018 serving his fourth term. An Arizona native, Stanton earned a bachelor's from Marquette and a law degree from the University of Michigan, working as an attorney and assistant Arizona attorney general. He served on the Phoenix City Council and as deputy attorney general before being elected Phoenix mayor in 2011, a position he held for two terms, resigning in 2018 to run for Congress. In 2025, he was recognized as the Most Effective Democrat on Transportation Policy by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. Stanton sits on Transportation and Infrastructure, Judiciary, and the Joint Economic committees. His legislative priorities include infrastructure investment, comprehensive immigration reform, water security in the Colorado River Basin critical to Arizona's future, and small-business policy. His mayoral experience on Phoenix's ambitious light-rail expansion program informs his infrastructure advocacy.
