U.S. Representative from ME, District 2

Jared Golden is a 4-term Democratic U.S. Representative from Maine's 2nd District and Marine Corps veteran, Blue Dog Coalition member who announced retirement in 2025.
Jared Franklin Golden has represented Maine's 2nd Congressional District, a large rural district covering most of Maine outside the southern coastal region, since 2018. A Bates College graduate, Golden served as a U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer in Iraq and Afghanistan before returning home, where he worked on Senator Susan Collins's staff and served in the Maine House of Representatives as assistant majority leader. A member of the Blue Dog Coalition known for frequently breaking with his party caucus, Golden sits on the House Armed Services Committee and Small Business Committee. He secured committee approval for billions in federal defense dollars for Maine's shipbuilding economy, particularly Bath Iron Works. Golden's legislative focus centered on Maine's defense industrial base, paper mills, and rural economic issues. In November 2025, citing increasing political incivility, Golden announced he would not seek reelection, concluding his service after building substantial expertise in defense policy.
