Biography

Democratic U.S. Representative from Texas's 30th District since 2023; prominent progressive voice on House Oversight Committee.

Jasmine Felicia Crockett is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 30th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2022 and serving her second term. A Rhodes College graduate and University of Houston Law Center alumna, Crockett worked as a civil rights and criminal defense attorney and served one term in the Texas House of Representatives before her 2022 election to succeed retiring Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson. She represents a majority-Black district covering much of southern Dallas and portions of Dallas County. Crockett has become one of the most visible younger Democrats through high-profile exchanges on the House Oversight Committee and sits on Oversight and Agriculture. She focuses on civil rights, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. In 2024, she won reelection with 84.9% of the vote. She ran for U.S. Senate in 2026 but lost the Democratic primary.
