Biography

Jay Obernolte is a Republican U.S. Representative from California's 23rd District, a video game developer and Caltech-trained AI expert serving as vice-chair of the Congressional AI Caucus.

Jay Phillip Obernolte is the U.S. Representative for California's 23rd Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2020 and currently serving his third term in the 119th Congress representing a vast inland district stretching from the High Desert through parts of San Bernardino County. A graduate of the California Institute of Technology and holder of a master's degree in artificial intelligence from UCLA, Obernolte founded a successful video game development company and served in the California State Assembly before entering Congress. As one of the few members with advanced training in AI, he co-chairs the bipartisan Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus and helped lead the Bipartisan House AI Task Force, which released recommendations on AI research, education, and evaluation. He serves on the Science, Space, and Technology and Natural Resources committees and has introduced legislation on liquid cooling for AI systems and robotics research.
