Jerry Nadler is a Democrat representing New York's 12th District since 1992 and former chair of the House Judiciary Committee during both Trump impeachments.
Jerrold Lewis Nadler, U.S. Representative for New York's 12th Congressional District, is a Democrat who won a special election in November 1992 and is serving his seventeenth full term representing a Manhattan district covering the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, and midtown. A Columbia University and Fordham Law School graduate, Nadler served in the New York State Assembly for 16 years before his congressional election. He chaired the House Judiciary Committee from 2019 to 2023, leading the committee during both Trump impeachment proceedings, and remains an active member focusing on constitutional issues, civil liberties, and Israel and Jewish community concerns. In September 2025, Nadler announced his decision not to seek reelection in 2026, ending his more than three decades of service in Congress.
