Jerry Moran is Kansas' senior Republican senator, a senior appropriator and chairman of the Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Subcommittee.
Gerald Wesley Moran is the senior U.S. Senator from Kansas, a Republican first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2016 and 2022. A native of Plainville, Kansas, Moran graduated from the University of Kansas and its law school and served in the Kansas State Senate, including as majority leader, before winning election to the U.S. House in 1996. After seven House terms representing Kansas's rural 1st District, he was elected to the Senate. In the 119th Congress, Moran is a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, where he chairs the Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Subcommittee, and also sits on Agriculture, Commerce, Banking, and the Special Committee on Aging. He serves on the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, working to reform Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas. His priorities include agriculture, veterans' health care, the Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas, aviation manufacturing, and rural broadband.
