Jimmy Gomez is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 34th District, a labor organizer and Ways and Means Committee member serving in the 119th Congress representing downtown Los Angeles.
Jimmy Gomez is the U.S. Representative for California's 34th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in a 2017 special election to succeed Xavier Becerra and currently serving his fifth term in the 119th Congress representing a heavily Latino district covering downtown Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, Eagle Rock, and Highland Park. A graduate of UCLA and the Harvard Kennedy School, Gomez worked as a political director for the United Nurses Association of California and served in the California State Assembly, where he chaired the Appropriations Committee. In the House he sits on the Ways and Means Committee and serves as a Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus and Deputy Whip for the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He is a member of Congressional Hispanic Caucus leadership and focuses on tax fairness, the child tax credit, immigration, and labor-related and housing affordability issues.
