John Boozman is Arkansas's senior Republican senator since 2010, a former optometrist and U.S. House member, now chairing the Agriculture Committee.
John Boozman, a Republican first elected to the Senate in 2010 after representing Arkansas's 3rd Congressional District in the House for a decade, represents Arkansas's senior Senate seat. A Fayetteville native and Southern College of Optometry graduate, Boozman practiced optometry for over two decades before entering politics. As chairman of the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee in the 119th Congress, he is central to farm bill negotiations and agricultural policy, driving efforts to modernize nutrition programs and support rural communities. He also serves on Appropriations, Environment and Public Works, and Veterans' Affairs committees. A champion of soybean and rice exports, rural infrastructure, and veterans' health care at the Fayetteville VA, Boozman led the charge to secure over $30 billion in federal farm support funding in 2024 and successfully championed key farm safety net improvements in the One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law in July 2025.
