Biography

John Mannion is a Democrat representing New York's 22nd District since 2024, a former high school biology teacher and state senator who chaired the Disabilities Committee.

John W. Mannion, U.S. Representative for New York's 22nd Congressional District, is a Democrat elected in 2024 after defeating Republican incumbent Brandon Williams. A State University of New York College at Geneseo graduate, Mannion taught high school biology for more than three decades in the Syracuse area before his 2020 election to the New York State Senate, where he chaired the Disabilities Committee. In the 119th Congress, he serves on the House Education and Workforce Committee and House Agriculture Committee. Mannion represents a district covering Syracuse and surrounding central New York counties. He championed the Green Chips legislation that attracted a historic $100 billion Micron semiconductor investment to Clay, New York, focusing on education, disability rights, manufacturing, and bringing advanced industry jobs to central New York.
