Josh Gottheimer is a Democratic U.S. Representative from New Jersey's 5th District and co-chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.
Joshua S. Gottheimer represents New Jersey's 5th Congressional District as a Democrat first elected in 2016, serving his fifth term. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Oxford University with a law degree from Harvard, Gottheimer served as a speechwriter for President Bill Clinton and as a senior adviser at Microsoft before entering politics. He serves as co-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a bipartisan group pushing for centrist policy solutions. Gottheimer represents northern New Jersey including Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren counties and serves on the Financial Services and Intelligence committees, focusing on tax policy including the SALT deduction cap, anti-hate legislation, and bipartisan dealmaking. He ran for New Jersey governor in 2025 but focused on returning to the House for 2026.
