U.S. Representative from WA, District 8

Kim Schrier is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Washington's 8th District and the first pediatrician to serve in Congress.
Kimberly Merle Schrier was born to a family committed to education and public service; she earned a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley in 1994 with honors in astrophysics, then earned her Doctor of Medicine from UC Davis School of Medicine and completed residency training at Stanford University. She worked as a pediatrician in Issaquah for 16 years before her election to Congress in 2018, motivated in part by her concerns about healthcare policy stemming from her management of Type 1 diabetes since childhood. Now serving her fourth term representing the 8th Congressional District covering the eastern Seattle suburbs and central Washington beyond the Cascade Mountains, she is the first and only pediatrician in Congress. She serves on the House Agriculture and Energy and Commerce committees, leveraging her medical expertise to advance healthcare, public lands, and agricultural policy.
