LaMonica McIver is a first-term Democrat from Newark who won a 2024 special election and serves on Homeland Security and Small Business committees.
LaMonica McIver represents New Jersey's 10th Congressional District, one of the nation's most heavily Democratic urban districts spanning Newark, parts of Jersey City, and surrounding areas in Essex, Hudson, and Union counties. As a former Newark City Council president, McIver won a September 2024 special election to succeed the late Donald Payne Jr. In the 119th Congress, she serves on the House Homeland Security Committee with subcommittee assignments in Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection and Transportation and Maritime Security, as well as the Small Business Committee. Her priorities focus on urban issues including affordable housing, quality education, criminal justice reform, and economic development in one of the nation's oldest major cities.
