Laura Gillen represents New York's 4th Congressional District covering southern Nassau County on Long Island. A Georgetown and Fordham Law School graduate with legal practice experience, Gillen was elected Town of Hempstead Supervisor in 2017 as the first Democrat in over a century, marking a historic shift in the town's politics. After losing re-election in 2019 and a 2022 congressional bid, she won in 2024, defeating incumbent Anthony D'Esposito. In the 119th Congress, Gillen serves on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee with subcommittee assignments in Space and Aeronautics, and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee with subcommittee assignments in Aviation, Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, and Highways and Transit. She prioritizes affordable housing, education funding, the SALT deduction cap, and quality-of-life issues affecting her suburban middle-class district.
