Mario Diaz-Balart is a Republican U.S. Representative from Florida's 26th District and dean of the Florida Republican delegation, a senior voice on U.S.-Cuba and Latin American policy.
Mario Rafael Diaz-Balart Caballero is the U.S. Representative for Florida's 26th Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2002 and currently serving his twelfth term representing an interior South Florida district covering parts of Miami-Dade and Collier counties. Born in Fort Lauderdale to a prominent Cuban political family, he is the son of former Cuban politician Rafael Díaz-Balart and brother of former Representative Lincoln Díaz-Balart. He attended the University of South Florida and served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature before entering Congress. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee where he is Vice Chair and serves on two subcommittees, continuing as Chair of the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Subcommittee and as a member of the Defense Subcommittee in the 119th Congress. His legislative priorities include U.S.-Cuba policy, U.S.-Latin America relations, and transportation infrastructure.
