U.S. Representative from NV, District 2

Mark Amodei is Nevada's only Republican House member and senior appropriator, focused on public lands, mining, and Yucca Mountain issues, announced non-reelection.
Mark E. Amodei represents Nevada's 2nd Congressional District spanning northern Nevada including Reno, Carson City, and rural areas. A University of Nevada and McGeorge Law School graduate who practiced law and served in the Nevada legislature, Amodei has been Congress's sole Republican voice from Nevada since his 2011 special election. In the 119th Congress, Amodei chairs the Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security and serves on the Appropriations Committee with subcommittee assignments in Financial Services, Interior and Environment, and serves on the Natural Resources Committee's Federal Lands Subcommittee. He is a key voice on western water rights, mining policy, public lands management, and the contentious Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository issue. On February 6, 2026, Amodei announced he would not seek re-election, ending his tenure after representing the district for over a decade.
