Mark Harris is a Republican U.S. Representative from North Carolina's 8th District, a Baptist pastor whose 2018 election was invalidated due to absentee ballot fraud by a political operative.
Mark Everette Harris represents North Carolina's 8th Congressional District as a Republican. A Baptist pastor who led Trinity Baptist Church in Mooresville, Harris initially won the Republican nomination for the 9th District in 2018 but the North Carolina State Board of Elections ordered a new election after evidence of absentee ballot fraud by a political operative in his campaign, though Harris was not accused of direct wrongdoing. He did not run in the subsequent special election and returned to politics to win the redrawn 8th District seat in 2024. Harris serves on the Judiciary, Agriculture, and Education and the Workforce committees and is a member of the Freedom Caucus, focusing on conservative social policy and religious liberty.
