United States Senator from AZ

Mark Kelly is Arizona's senior Democratic senator since 2020, a retired Navy combat pilot and NASA astronaut who founded a prominent gun-safety organization.
Mark Edward Kelly, a Democrat first elected in a 2020 special election to fill John McCain's seat and re-elected to a full term in 2022, brings extensive military and space exploration experience to the Senate. A retired Navy captain and combat pilot with 39 Gulf War missions and a NASA astronaut who commanded the final Space Shuttle Endeavour flight in 2011, Kelly combines national security expertise with scientific credentials. The husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was grievously wounded in a 2011 shooting, he co-founded an influential gun-safety advocacy organization. In the 119th Congress, Kelly serves on Armed Services, Energy and Natural Resources, Environment and Public Works, and the Special Committee on Aging, focusing on border security, semiconductor manufacturing, Colorado River water rights, and veterans' support. He continues advocating for evidence-based gun policy while addressing Arizona's pressing infrastructure and economic priorities as a key moderate voice in a divided Senate.
