Mark Pocan is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Wisconsin's 2nd District and a former co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Mark William Pocan earned his degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1986 and opened Budget Signs & Specialties, a union printing company that he owned and operated for 37 years. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly for 14 years, representing the 78th district from 1999 to 2013, succeeding Tammy Baldwin before succeeding her again in the House when she was elected to the U.S. Senate. Now serving his seventh term, Pocan represents Madison and surrounding south-central Wisconsin. An openly gay member of Congress, he served as co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus from 2019 to 2021 and currently serves as chair emeritus. He sits on the House Appropriations Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus, focusing on LGBTQ+ rights, labor issues, and progressive economic policy.
