Matt Van Epps is a Republican U.S. Representative from Tennessee's 7th District, West Point graduate, Army helicopter pilot, and former state commissioner.
Matt Van Epps represents Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, a Republican who won a December 2, 2025 special election to succeed Mark Green, who resigned. A U.S. Army veteran and West Point graduate, Van Epps served as a helicopter pilot and subsequently as commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services under Governor Bill Lee. He won the Republican primary in October 2025 with endorsements from President Trump and Governor Lee, then defeated Democrat Aftyn Behn in the special election with 53.9 percent of the vote. The race drew significant national attention and financial support. Van Epps was sworn in as Congressman on December 5, 2025. He represents a district covering portions of middle Tennessee including Williamson County, Clarksville, and the Kentucky border.
