Nicholas Joseph Begich III is Alaska's at-large U.S. House representative, a Republican who built a career as a software and data-analytics entrepreneur despite sharing his name with one of Alaska's most famous Democratic political dynasties. His grandfather, Nick Begich Sr., was a Democratic congressman who disappeared in a 1972 plane crash, and his uncle Mark Begich served as a U.S. senator, yet Begich pursued the Republican party and technology sector. He ran unsuccessfully for the Alaska seat in 2022 before winning in 2024 through the state's ranked-choice voting system, succeeding Democrat Mary Peltola. In the 119th Congress, Begich serves on Natural Resources, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Science, Space and Technology committees, focusing on Alaska's critical needs in oil and gas development, federal land management, and strategic resources development.
