Pablo José Hernández Rivera serves as Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, the island's sole nonvoting representative in the U.S. House. A Democrat affiliated with Puerto Rico's Popular Democratic Party, Hernández was elected in November 2024 with the highest vote total of any official in that election and took office in January 2025, succeeding Jenniffer González-Colón who became governor. Born May 11, 1991, Hernández is the youngest Resident Commissioner in Puerto Rico's history. He holds degrees from Harvard College and Stanford Law School. In early 2026, he has sponsored legislation including the Puerto Rico Postal Equity Act and Puerto Rico Water Infrastructure Resilience Act, focusing on economic development, federal program equity, and infrastructure rebuilding.
