United States Senator from NE

Pete Ricketts is a Republican Nebraska senator, former two-term governor and TD Ameritrade executive, appointed to the Senate in 2023.
John Peter Ricketts serves as the junior U.S. Senator from Nebraska, a Republican appointed in January 2023 by Governor Jim Pillen to fill the seat vacated by Ben Sasse, who resigned to become president of the University of Florida, and subsequently elected in a 2024 special election to finish the term. A son of TD Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts, he graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor's and an MBA and worked as an executive at TD Ameritrade while his family retained controlling interest in the Chicago Cubs baseball team. He served two terms as governor of Nebraska from 2015 to 2023, during which he pursued tax reduction and took a conservative line on pandemic policy. In the 119th Congress, Ricketts serves on the Environment and Public Works, Foreign Relations, Banking Housing and Urban Affairs, and Budget committees. He has committed to passing a comprehensive Farm Bill reflecting Nebraska's agricultural priorities, cutting environmental regulation costs, and advancing U.S.-Taiwan relations and broader international engagement.
