Rob Wittman is a Republican U.S. Representative from Virginia's 1st District since 2007, specializing in military and maritime policy.
Robert Joseph Wittman is the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 1st Congressional District, having won a December 2007 special election and currently serving his ninth full term. A graduate of Virginia Tech with a master's degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate in public policy and administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, Wittman worked as a field biologist and government administrator before his election to the Virginia House of Delegates. He represents a district covering the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, and portions of the Richmond suburbs. Wittman serves as vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces. He also serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources. His legislative focus centers on military readiness, shipbuilding, defense procurement, maritime interests, and environmental protection of the Chesapeake Bay.
