Sarah Elfreth is a first-term Democratic U.S. Representative from Maryland's 3rd District elected in 2024, serving as vice ranking member of Natural Resources Committee.
Sarah Kathleen Elfreth represents Maryland's 3rd Congressional District, including Annapolis and Anne Arundel, Howard, and Carroll counties, having been elected in 2024. A Towson University and University of Baltimore graduate, Elfreth worked in nonprofit development and government relations before serving one term in the Maryland State Senate, where she focused on environmental and education policy. She succeeded longtime Representative John Sarbanes in Congress. In the 119th Congress, she serves as Vice Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee and co-chairs the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Taskforce, continuing her decades-long advocacy for Bay restoration and environmental protection. Elfreth champions Chesapeake Bay restoration, transportation initiatives including the Francis Scott Key Bridge rebuild, the U.S. Naval Academy interests, and reproductive rights in her district.
