United States Senator from MT

Steve Daines is a Republican Montana senator who chaired the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the successful 2024 cycle, serving his second term.
Steven David Daines serves as the senior U.S. Senator from Montana, a Republican first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2020. A Bozeman native and Montana State University chemical engineering graduate, Daines spent 28 years in private business, much of it with Procter & Gamble managing operations in China, and later as an executive at a Bozeman-based cloud technology company. He was elected to Montana's at-large U.S. House seat in 2012 and served one term before running for Senate. In the 119th Congress, Daines serves on the Finance, Appropriations, Energy and Natural Resources, and Indian Affairs committees, and is one of only three senators from Montana ever to serve on the Senate Finance Committee. He completed his term as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee in January 2025 after leading the party to significant gains in the 2024 election cycle, helping Republicans retake Senate majority control. He has focused on public-lands and grazing issues, tribal policy, tax legislation, and U.S.-China trade and human rights concerns.
