Sydney Kamlager-Dove is a Democratic U.S. Representative from California's 37th District, a former state senator serving on Foreign Affairs as ranking member of the South and Central Asia subcommittee in the 119th Congress.
Sydney K. Kamlager-Dove is the U.S. Representative for California's 37th Congressional District, a Democrat first elected in 2022 and currently serving her second term in the 119th Congress representing a central and South Los Angeles district including Culver City, Leimert Park, and Baldwin Hills. Born in Minneapolis and educated at the University of Southern California and American University, Kamlager-Dove worked in nonprofit management and served as a district director for state legislators before being elected to the Los Angeles Community College District Board, the California State Assembly, and the California State Senate, where she chaired the Public Safety Committee. In the 119th Congress she serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee as ranking member of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia and the Judiciary Committee. She is the whip of the Congressional Black Caucus and policy co-chair of the Democratic Women's Caucus, focusing on criminal justice reform, housing, and international human rights.
