United States Senator from TX

Ted Cruz is the junior U.S. Senator from Texas, chairman of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, and a former presidential candidate.
Rafael Edward 'Ted' Cruz, Texas's junior senator since 2013, has established himself as a prominent conservative voice shaping energy, technology, and constitutional issues. Born in Calgary to a Cuban-born father and American mother, Cruz graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law School, clerked for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, and served in the George W. Bush 2000 presidential campaign and at the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department before becoming Texas solicitor general from 2003 to 2008, arguing multiple cases before the Supreme Court. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, finishing second to Donald Trump. In the 119th Congress, Cruz chairs the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, a major platform for his work on energy policy, telecommunications regulation, and technological innovation. He also serves on the Judiciary, Rules and Administration, and Foreign Relations committees, maintaining a focus on border enforcement, energy development, and conservative judicial nominations.
