U.S. Representative from CA, District 5

Tom McClintock is a California Republican congressman and fiscal conservative representing the 5th District since 2009.
Thomas Miller McClintock II represents California's 5th Congressional District, a Sierra Nevada foothills and mountain district, as a Republican first elected in 2008 and now serving his ninth term in the 119th Congress. A Glendale, California, native and UCLA graduate, McClintock spent decades in the California State Assembly and State Senate, running unsuccessfully for state controller, lieutenant governor, and governor, including in the 2003 recall election that elected Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is widely regarded as Congress's most consistent fiscal conservative, advocating rigorously for reduced federal spending and constitutional limits on federal power. In the 119th Congress, McClintock serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources, the House Committee on the Judiciary, and the House Committee on the Budget. His committee assignments reflect his long-standing focus on federal spending control, water and forest management in the western United States, immigration enforcement, and constitutional governance. He introduced the Shut Down Sanctuary Policies Act in 2026.
