Troy Edwin Nehls is the U.S. Representative for Texas's 22nd Congressional District, a Republican first elected in 2020. A U.S. Army veteran with 21 years of service in the Army Reserve and 30 years in law enforcement, Nehls served as sheriff of Fort Bend County from 2013 to 2021 before his congressional election. He represents a district covering southwestern Houston suburbs in Fort Bend County and portions of Brazoria County. Nehls sits on the Judiciary, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Veterans' Affairs committees, focusing on border security, law enforcement, and veterans issues. He won reelection in 2024 with 64% of the vote. On November 29, 2025, he announced he would not seek reelection in 2026.
